… the City of Glasgow College launched a new initiative, Creative Pathways, which serves to provide guidance, opportunity and career information regarding pathways into the Creative Industries.
The event was warmly received by many students from across the three Further Education institutions (Glasgow Metropolitan, Central College and Nautical) that now comprise the new, merged City of Glasgow College, now Scotland’s biggest.
The event was organised and hosted by the School of Communication and Media and central to the day’s events was a team ‘pitching’ event.
The successful pitch was presented by a mix of HND Journalism students from the former Glasgow Metropolitan College and HND Advertising & PR students from the former Central College Glasgow. These students can now come together as students of the new college and under the guidance and instruction of highly-trained teaching staff and former industry specialists, to produce The Rant, a student-oriented version of Question Time.
Subsequent posts will focus on the experiences and thoughts of the winning team, their hopes and plans for the production of the programme, as well as video and audio content, including keynote speeches from a variety of Scottish mainstream media luminaries taken from the event itself, including Henry Eagles, Director of Skillset Scotland (see video below), Alistair Scott, senior TV and Film lecturer at Napier University and Blair Jenkins, chair of the Scottish Broadcasting Commission and former head of news at BBC Scotland.
